Like so many of us, I took a few days off around Christmas. Sometimes, even taking a weekend off comes back to bite you. (For the record, I take weekends off — family comes first — and, yes, I do have a few teeth marks to show for it.) Other times, it’s a blessing. This was the latter.
Running a travel business can be a 24-hour, seven-day a week operation (not that mine is) and you never know when that call or email is going to come.
We were able to spend time with our daughter and her family who live over three hours away. It’s always nice to see the grandchildren (sorry, Kris, you know we love you and Adam, too — I know, no pics!). It allowed us time to babysit another of our grandchildren on a Friday afternoon (say hi to James!). Oh, yeah, we have three other adult children, as well.

It allowed us time to walk along the boardwalk on Christmas Eve morning (dressed appropriately for the cold, of course), time to stop for bagels at the local store, time to be us.
I don’t like the term “time to recharge” so I won’t use it here — I’m not a hypocrite — but it did allow me time to gather my thoughts on things that are important.
So, now it’s back to work. Is anyone up for a trip — shop’s open?
