On the Road, Again…

Well, maybe not the road but we will be going somewhere. This time it’s the lovely, friendly, sunny, windy and, sometimes, crowded island of Aruba.

It’s been over nine years since our last visit to this island known for its wind, friendly people and bent trees (I know, I know — Divi Divi trees). Prior to starting our travel business we bought a timeshare there in 2008 and have loved every minute of owning it — contrary to what some people think about them. The timeshare, at the Marriott Aruba Surf Club, has allowed us to exchange to places like Sicily, the Adriatic coast of Italy, Spain, Curacao, St. Maarten, Grand Cayman and, of course, various places in Mexico and our own beautiful country, including Hawaii. I can’t say that we’ve ever had a bad time in Aruba, but it was just time to see other places.

Now, it’s time to return.

So, this is a combined business and pleasure trip. Yes, there’ll be plenty of time to sit on the beach but I’ll also be getting some first-hand knowledge of what the island has to offer by doing some resort site inspections and experiencing some of the island activities. I’ll be sharing these experiences on our Facebook and Twitter pages, so make sure you follow us.

In the meantime, enjoy these photos.

A view of the beautiful blue water and the Antilla, a shipwreck used as a popular snorkel site.
California Lighthouse — you can see a good portion of the island from this vantage point. There’s also a restaurant at the location.
Aruba’s east cost — a rugged landscape and home to many caves. It’s a typical spot for ATV riders.
Some of the inhabitants of the east coast.
One of the many boating options on the island. They generally give you some snacks, an open bar and some snorkeling time.
